If you'd like to transfer or add our current Sigma membership to our Chapter, please call member services at 1-888-634-7575. You don't need to be affiliated with Felician University to become a member of our Chapter. If you are up for renewal, this add or transfer can be done online. Adding or transferring to our Chapter will be a $25 fee.

  • Outstanding Member Award

    PURPOSE  
    The Outstanding Member Award recognizes a Sigma member whose nursing practice and contributions to the Alpha Beta Chi Chapter has positively impacted Sigma, the chapter, or nursing/ healthcare profession. 
    Sigma membership is required. 
    ELIGIBILITY  
    All active Alpha Beta Chi members are eligible to be nominated for this award.  
    Members may not self-nominate; any self-nominations will be disqualified.  
    Current Sigma Board of Directors, Sigma staff, Sigma consultants and contracted staff, and members of the judging committee are not eligible.  
    CRITERIA  
    Nominee must be an actively participating member of the Alpha Beta Chi Chapter. Nomination should show evidence of meeting some of the following criteria for two or more Sigma pillars: 
    Strength of Leadership 
    1. Displays an understanding of the self and one’s own potential 
    2. Portrays a positive vision for leadership and a continuing commitment to leadership 
    3. Displays knowledge, skills, and abilities related to personal, interpersonal, organizational, and civic leadership development 
    4. Makes connections with other chapter members  
    a Advances and promotes healthcare, the nursing profession, and Sigma
    b Demonstrates the impact of volunteer service—quality and quantity 
    c Commits to ongoing volunteer service 
    d Demonstrates a spirit of compassion and caring Professional Endeavors 
    i Demonstrates creative resource utilization 
    ii Pursues their own professional growth and development 
    iii Advocates for quality patient and family care 
    iv Utilizes exemplary interpersonal skills 
    5. Collaborates with healthcare professionals in providing optimal care
     
    SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS  
    Supporting documents required below should address a majority of the above criteria. Entries that do not meet the criteria and requirements below will be disqualified. A complete online nomination consists of: 
    *The following documents will be required to be uploaded at the time of submission:
    2. Supporting narrative, from the nominator (1-2 pages)  
    3. Letter of Acceptance—A statement from the nominee accepting the nomination and agreeing to attend Sigma’s Induction ceremony if selected as the award recipient

  • Scholarship Award

    The Alpha Beta Chi Chapter of Sigma at Felician awards up to two scholarships to outstanding undergraduate or graduate students each year. In addition to receiving the scholarship, recipients are recognized at the annual induction ceremony of the Alpha Beta Chi Chapter of Sigma held each Spring. The next induction ceremony will take place on April 10, 2025.

    All eligible Felician Nursing students are encouraged to apply. You do not need to be a member of Sigma or Alpha Beta Chi Chapter to apply. Previous Alpha Beta Chi Chapter scholarship award recipients are ineligible.

    Criteria for Selection of Recipients:

    1.            Cumulative G.P.A. of 3.2 or above (students who have a lower G.P.A may be considered

    if they meet the other criteria listed for selection).

    2.             Must be currently enrolled full-time in the School of Nursing at Felician University.

                       Undergraduate nursing students must have a Junior or Senior status at the time of application.

                       Graduate nursing students must have completed at least one term at the time of application.

    3.             Demonstrates leadership potential by involvement in community, University, and/or School of Nursing activities.

    4.             Demonstrates commitment to the Felician Franciscan and Alpha Beta Chi Chapter values.

    Submit the following documents for a complete application:

    1.      Unofficial transcripts from Felician

    2.      Current Resume

    3.      A 250-word essay stating why they should receive the scholarship and what contribution they plan to make to nursing. Explain and provide examples of involvement in the community and commitment to the Felician Franciscan and Alpha Beta Chi Chapter values.
